My husband complains each summer that I need to take time off...after all I'm a 10 month employee. I really feel teaching is a "life long" job/career making it difficult to take the 10 weeks off "they" say you get. I do love my job though! Diana :) everything you say is so true. In reality, I spend my summers teaching summer school. During the school year, I teach special ed. Every summer, I tell myself wouldn't it be great to move up to the high school level and teach regular ed. It usually takes me 2 days@5 1/2 hours per day to realize that teaching Algebra 1 to high school students is not my idea of an "ideal" summer. I also thought it would be so-cool to have summers off. In reality, I spend my summers teaching summer school. During the school year, I teach special ed. And during our so called summer break ( here, it is always summer) some of us have to invigilate exams which can drag up to three weeks and mark exam papers.
